ART SPOTS with Linda Loveland Reid: Rauschenberg and Johns
The latest in a series of lectures by Instructor Linda Loveland Reid
Wednesday February 9th 2022
10:30am - noon
Zoom lecture
Two southern gentlemen living in New York developed a two-man painting movement that was a ‘bridge’ from abstract to nearly every art movement through to the present day. In the spirit of such, Rauschenberg famously erased a de Kooning drawing. Their Neo-Dada work embraced America’s new commercial environment and successes, such as landing on the moon. Other artists will include John Cage, Josef Albers, Marcel Duchamp, Allan Kaprow, Barnett Newman, Claus Oldenburg, Frank Stella and the Black Mountain College.
Linda Loveland Reid has been an OLLI instructor for both Sonoma State and Dominican Universities. She holds a B.A. in History and Art History from SSU, graduating cum laude. Other interests include published novels, figurative and abstract oil painting, and directing community theater. Linda is chair of the SSU OLLI Art Club with over 200 members. LindaLovelandReid.com
