Job Title: Youth Ceramics Instructor

Location: SebArts

Position Type: Seasonal/Part-Time

About Us: SebArts is dedicated to fostering creativity and artistic expression in youth through engaging and educational programs. We believe in the transformative power of art, and we’re looking for a passionate and skilled Youth Ceramics Instructor to join our team.

Job Summary: The Youth Ceramics Instructor will lead engaging and interactive ceramics classes for children and adolescents, encouraging creativity and skill development in a supportive environment. This position requires a strong foundation in ceramics techniques, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching and mentoring young artists.

Key Responsibilities:

-Class Instruction: Plan and teach ceramics classes for various age groups, focusing on fundamental techniques and creative expression.

-Curriculum Development: Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and technical skills in ceramics.

-Studio Management: Ensure a safe, clean, and organized studio environment, including the maintenance of materials, tools, and equipment.

-Student Engagement: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, encouraging students to explore their artistic potential.

-Assessment: Provide constructive feedback and support to students, helping them to improve their skills and develop their artistic voice.

-Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other instructors and staff to enhance program offerings and community engagement.

Qualifications:

-Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Ceramics, Education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

-Experience: Previous teaching experience with youth, particularly in ceramics or related arts is required. Proven experience working in a collaborative mid fire clay studio environment.

-Skills: Proficiency in a variety of ceramics techniques (hand-building, wheel-throwing, glazing, etc.) and a strong understanding of materials and safety practices

-Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students and parents effectively.

-Passion for Arts Education: A genuine enthusiasm for working with youth and fostering their artistic development.

Additional Requirements:

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

- Background check clearance as required by local regulations.
