January 2024 Session: Intro to Slab Built Ceramics

$195.00

Fridays, January 12 - February 2, 2024 (4 weeks)

2:30pm - 4:30pm

$160 + $35 clay fee

Ages 13 and up

You will learn how to make pottery with both hard and soft slabs. The slab building technique involves rolling out clay to an even thickness - usually 1 cm - then cutting shapes, folding, bending, manipulating and joining together to form a finished object

Each class will begin with a new demo and you will also get one-on-one guidance. Stamping and glazing will also be demonstrated.

About the Instructor: From her earliest memories, Jenny Lauck has always loved making little odd ball friends, using a variety of mediums. After too many years without a creative outlet, Jenny took a few ceramics courses at Santa Rosa Junior College. As soon as she got her hands on the clay again, simple shapes started to develop personalities of their own, and families of ceramic monsters were born. Jenny is the Saturday morning facilitator for the Sebastopol Center for the Arts Ceramics Studio.
