Mixed Media with Foraged Materials from Nature
Friday, December 9, 2022 10am-2:30pm
$80 + $30 materials fee
Using the earth and its elements as the foundation of artistic inspiration, texture and form you can tap into my vast collections of leaves, soils, lichens and more and learn some of my trade secrets that I have not shared before.
These techniques of adhering natural materials, layering them, priming, painting and sealing them are very unique and this particular process Amanda Hopkins has kept secret until now.
We will be using various textures of soil, different types of leaves and dried flowers as well as lichens to create eco inspired compositions that draw on the glorious perfection of natural forms and the sensuous textures that can be found in nature.
About the Instructor:
Amanda Rose Hopkins received her B.F.A from UC Santa Cruz with a concentration in painting and environmental art. Locally she has creatively taught children at Sunridge and REACH Charter schools. She spent 5 months studying under artist Kaveri Singh and Thangka painters from Nepal and Sikkim at the Sarnath International Nyingma Institute in India. Her work is currently focused on highlighting the sensuous texture and environmental importance of the kelp forests.
