Artist Statement

Lewis Bangham

I want to express something beyond simple representation or abstraction. The goal of my work is to enable people to relate to the subject in a fundamental way. I want the art to achieve quality of aliveness through nuance of light and texture or facial expression that draws the viewer enter into the scene and to emotionally connect with the inner character of people and places.
