Jos Sances will talk about the Social Justice and Environmental issues depicted in the whale followed by a demonstration of scratch board drawing.
Students are then invited to try their hand creating their own art on a scratch board!
Virtual Reality glasses will be available for exploration!
About the Instructor:
Jos Sances has made his living as a Printmaker and Muralist for more than 45 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. He founded Alliance Graphics, a successful union screenprint shop, and several years earlier, co-founded Mission Gráfica at San Francisco’s Mission Cultural Center, Throughout, Jos steadily and consistently maintained an output of politically engaged art. In 2010 & 2016 the Library of Congress acquired 495 of his prints that broadly represent his output. He has shown art work in such venues as the Avenue 50 Gallery in Los Angeles, Vessel Gallery in Oakland, the Richmond Art Center, the American Museum of Ceramic Art, The Berkeley Art Center and as part of the show “Committed to Print” at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. Sances’ work was included in "¡Printing the Revolution! The Rise and Impact of Chicano Graphics 1965 to Now," at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
