Join the vibrant world of vitreous enameling to create a colorful enameled trinket dish. Build up beautiful shades and blended colors similar to the effect of watercolor painting.

Imagine and create a work of art using beautiful vitreous (glass) enamel colors fired on a preformed copper dish. The translucent enamel colors have a jewel-like quality that will never fade or lose its luster. Each layer of vitreous enamel is fired in the kiln at 1450 degrees, Enamel dishes are breathtaking because of the light that they reflect. You will learn to combine many colors of enamel powder and take home an enameled “heirloom” work or art.

All levels are welcome, and materials are supplied. The enamel kiln is courtesy of a grant by the Enamellist Society.

About the Instructor: Anita Selinger has an art education degree from New York University and a jewelry design degree from Fashion Institute of Technology. For 45 years she has supported herself using modelmaking, enameling, and fabrication skills to create one-of-a-kind custom orders and limited-edition jewelry. Teaching for 40 years has been a great pleasure for her as she treasures the enthusiasm of her students as they create. Her workshops include wax modeling and enameling taught in her studio in Santa Rosa, the Crafts Students League in NYC, Chimera Arts in Sebastopol, and the Mendocino Art Center.
