Distance Learning Assistants Job Description

We are hiring Distance Learning Assistants for our onsite Supervised Distance Learning, for 1-5th grade students who need childcare, and supervision/assistance during their virtual learning. We are seeking responsible, energetic, and creative individuals with experience in classroom management, learning instruction, and leadership in recreational/arts activities.

Experience:

  • Education as teacher or classroom assistant, 1 year (Preferred)
  • Working with youth (especially ages 6-11), 1 year (Strongly preferred)

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Work authorization:

  • United States (Required)

Full-Time Distance Learning Assistants Responsibilities:

  • Daily setup and preparation (Distance Learning Assitant) 
  • Morning/afternoon attendance sign-in/sign-out procedure 
  • Follow and encourage COVID safety practices 
  • Helping with COVID safety/sanitizing procedures throughout the day 
  • Co-leading cohort (12 children) for full-day or afterschool program
  • Supervising students during Distance Learning hours 
  • Providing technical support (wifi, Zoom etc) 
  • Providing direct assistance with classwork as needed (assignment clarification, basic homework help) 
  • Sharing in set up & clean up of activities (sanitizing toys and supplies and surfaces)
  • Creating and implementing engaging art activities (submit lesson plans weekly)
  • Refereeing games, and closely supervising outdoor play (including social distance; safety) 
  • Coordinating with team- snack, and lunchtimes: picking up food (driving), preparing, serving, and clean-up 
  • Homework assistance (After DL; before Arts Enrichment Program) 
  • Communicating with parents in cohort on a regular basis
  • Other duties as assigned

*All program participants and staff must complete and pass daily health screenings.

*All program staff are required to maintain 6-feet of social-distance and to wear a mask at all times

Qualifications:

  • Have experience with behavior and classroom management techniques
  • Are familiar with, or have experience with trauma-informed care, and working with at-risk youth
  • Have very strong technology skills in Zoom, video streaming, and Microsoft Office. Google classroom a plus.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Are a self-starter, and have the ability to work independently in a leadership position
  • Ability to manage challenging situations, and address and resolve conflicts that arise
  • Be well-organized, have follow-through, and high personal accountability
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents about program/child’s needs
  • *Bonus: Are multilingual (Spanish Speaking) and/or have extensive knowledge of multiple cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds

Requirements to be completed upon employment:

  • Department of Justice Livescan background check and fingerprinting
  • First Aid/CPR certification (depending) 
  • COVID-19 test
  • TB Test 

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Afterschool Art Program Activity Leaders Job Description

Volunteer Position

The SebARTS  Education Program provides classes for youth and adults across the arts, and now, during COVID-19,  we’ve transitioned to offer exciting new online and outdoor classes and workshops.

We are seeking volunteers to assist during our new after school Arts Enrichment Program

We need energetic, positive individuals to support our cohort leaders during group activities and help with organizing materials, set up and cleanup, sanitizing surfaces and supplies, snack distribution and activity transitions. The volunteer works only within one cohort, Monday-Friday 4:00-5:30pm.

Open to everyone. Volunteers 16+, highschool and college students are also encouraged to apply- we will work with you to meet requirements for community service/learning credits

SebArts adheres to strict COVID-19 safety protocols. 

  • Stable cohorts are limited to 12 students, and 
  • activities are held both indoors and outdoors. 
  • Participants wear masks at all times indoors, and are only permitted to remove them outside while eating or while able to maintain safe social distance (i.e. during outdoor play within their cohort)..
