Welcome to clay class. Hope you're ready to get dirty! We are going to be playing with mud, clay, mason stains, paint, and mixed media during the course of this class, so please only wear clothes that are ok to get stained.
This is a nine week course designed to hone wheel throwing skills. Perfect for all levels. Pottery Bootcamp will be split into two stages. Stage 1 will be the first 5 classes and will result in no kept pieces. The pressure to create the “right” piece is totally removed. After each piece is completed, we will cut the vessel in two in order to investigate the cross section and problem spots. Stage 2 of the class will be the following 4 classes, during which the students will be able to throw pottery to keep and practice glaze techniques. This stage will be broken into 2 classes for wet clay, and 2 classes for glazing. We will make mugs, bowls, small vases, and jars. During the last class, there will be a demo on how to pour candles into ceramic vessels and how to design small succulent planters.
